The IAS Paul C W Chu Professorship was established with support from a donor who prefers to stay anonymous. This professorship is named after the University’s second President, Professor Paul Ching-Wu Chu, who also served as the Founding Director of the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). He set a clear vision for the IAS to be a premier intellectual center in Hong Kong, the region and beyond, and it perfectly echoes with the donor’s aim to foster interaction among the world’s foremost scholars to make a difference in the academic world.
